When I am dead, my dearest,

Sing no sad songs for me;

Plant thou no roses at my head,

Nor shady cypress-tree:

Be the green grass above me

With showers and dewdrops wet;

And if thou wilt, remember,

And if thou wilt, forget.

I shall not see the shadows,

I shall not feel the rain;

I shall not hear the nightingale

Sing on, as if in pain:

And dreaming through the twilight

That doth not rise nor set,

Haply I may remember,

And haply may forget.

這首詩對中國學生來說，應該不陌生，因為徐志摩曾經把它譯成中文發表。這首詩所散發出來的哀愁氣韻，和徐詩的風格相近，很多人是因為喜歡徐志摩的詩，才認識這位英國女詩人：克莉斯汀娜．羅塞提(Christina Rossetti)。
